How many people will a Hafiz (memorizer of the Qur’an) take with him to Paradise? Is the narration about interceding for ten people authentic?
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
Reference: Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 2905, Sunan Ibn Majah: 216
Translation:
“Whoever recites the Qur’an and memorizes it thoroughly, and regards what it declares lawful as lawful and what it declares unlawful as unlawful, then Allah will admit him to Paradise through the Qur’an. And He will accept his intercession for ten members of his household for whom the Hellfire had become necessary.”
This narration has been classified as weak (da‘eef) by scholars of Hadith. Therefore, no authentic marfu‘ (directly attributed to the Prophet ﷺ) narration is established on this specific matter.
A Hafiz al-Qur’an holds a distinguished status in Islam. Considering this great virtue, it is possible that Allah ﷻ may grant him the opportunity to intercede.
However, it cannot be stated with certainty that this intercession will be for a specific number of people.
