The Importance of Raising Daughters and the Glad Tidings of Paradise

Author: Dr. Muhammad Zia-ur-Rahman Azmi (رحمه الله)

First Hadith
Narrated by Ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“There is no man who has two daughters, and he treats them well as long as they remain with him or he remains with them, except that they will cause him to enter Paradise.”

Second Hadith
Narrated by Anas bin Malik (رضي الله عنه): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever raises two daughters until they reach maturity will be with me like this on the Day of Resurrection.” He then joined his fingers together to show closeness.

Third Hadith
Narrated by Anas (or someone else): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever raises two or three daughters, or two or three sisters, until their deaths or his own death, he and I will be like this (together).” He ﷺ indicated this by joining his index and middle fingers.

Fourth Hadith
Narrated by Uqbah bin Aamir al-Juhani (رضي الله عنه): He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say:
“Whoever has three daughters, and he is patient with them, feeds them, gives them drink, and clothes them from his own earnings, they will be a shield for him from the Hellfire on the Day of Resurrection.”

Fifth Hadith
Narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah (رضي الله عنه): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever raises three daughters, keeps them from want, shows them mercy, and treats them with kindness, he will be in Paradise.” A man asked: “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, what if someone has two daughters?” He ﷺ replied: “For two as well.” The narrator said: “We thought that if someone had asked about one daughter, he ﷺ would have said the same (about one daughter).”
