The Blessings of Seeing Allah and His Pleasure in Paradise
❖ Question:
In Paradise, what is the greatest blessing for its dwellers — seeing Allah (the Almighty) or attaining His pleasure?
❖ Answer by:
Shaykh Ḥāfiẓ Khidr Ḥayāt ḥafiẓahullāh
In Jannah, the vision of Allah ﷻ has been described as the greatest reward. However, both the vision of Allah and His pleasure are interlinked, since only those whom Allah is pleased with will be granted the honor of seeing Him.
“وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ”
(Surah al-Qiyāmah: 22–23)
“Some faces that Day will be radiant, looking at their Lord.”
“لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى وَزِيَادَةٌ”
(Surah Yūnus: 26)
“For those who have done good is the best reward — and even more.”
✔ According to the Mufassirīn (Qur’anic Exegetes):
– “al-Ḥusnā” refers to Paradise.
– “al-Ziyādah” (something more) refers to the vision of Allah ﷻ.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, will say: ‘Do you wish for anything more?’
They will say: ‘Have You not brightened our faces? Have You not admitted us to Paradise and saved us from Hell?’
Then Allah will remove the veil, and they will be given nothing dearer to them than the vision of their Lord, the Almighty.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 181)
اللهم اجعلنا منہم
O Allah, make us among them.
