The Fate of an Oppressive Ruler and the Severe Warning for Him on the Day of Judgment
Written by: Imran Ayyub Lahori
➊ Narration of ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd (RA):
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Indeed, the people who will face the severest punishment in Hell on the Day of Judgment are: the one who killed a Prophet, or the one killed by a Prophet, and an oppressive ruler."

➋ Narration of Abū Hurayrah (RA):
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"There is no leader over ten people except that he will be brought on the Day of Judgment in shackles. Nothing will release him except justice."
References: [Ḥasan Ṣaḥīḥ: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb: 2198, Kitāb al-Qaḍāʾ; Aḥmad: 2/431]
➌ Another narration states:
"Every leader over ten people will be brought on the Day of Judgment in chains until his justice releases him or his oppression destroys him."
References: [Ṣaḥīḥ: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb: 200, Kitāb al-Qaḍāʾ; Bazzār in Kashf al-Astār: 1640; Ṭabarānī al-Awsaṭ]
➍ Narration of Abū Umāmah (RA):
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Two categories of my Ummah will never attain my intercession: an oppressive, tyrannical ruler, and every treacherous person who deviates from the religion."
References: [Ḥasan: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb: 2218, Kitāb al-Qaḍāʾ; Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr and al-Awsaṭ]
➎ Narration of Abū Mūsā (RA):
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Indeed, Allah grants respite to the oppressor, but when He seizes him, He does not let him go." Then the Prophet ﷺ recited the verse:
“And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the towns while they are committing oppression. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe.” [Hūd: 102]
