“If you did not commit sins, Allah would bring a people who would commit sins, then seek forgiveness from Him, and He would forgive them.”
What is the ruling on this?
This mindset has led many people into habitual sinning. Some hope to repent in the future, while others plan to seek forgiveness in old age. However, death often strikes unexpectedly, shattering their plans and leaving them with unfulfilled desires.
In most cases, such individuals fail to repent and meet a dreadful end. Their sins dominate their lives, becoming ingrained habits that they cannot abandon.
Allah describes such people in the Quran:
“Indeed, repentance is accepted by Allah only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is they to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness.”
[Surah An-Nisa: 17]
And Allah says:
“And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allah? – and do not persist in what they have done while they know.”
[Surah Aal-e-Imran: 135]
May Allah protect us from such disgrace and guide us toward sincere repentance.
And Allah knows best.
Question:
Some sinners use the following Hadith as justification for their actions:“If you did not commit sins, Allah would bring a people who would commit sins, then seek forgiveness from Him, and He would forgive them.”
What is the ruling on this?
Answer:
This argument reflects the misconception of those who are distant from Allah’s commands and His Shariah. Such individuals are deceived by Satan, who instills false hopes in their hearts, encouraging them to indulge in sins with the plan of repenting later. They believe they can enjoy sins freely now and repent at a later stage. This mindset has led many people into habitual sinning. Some hope to repent in the future, while others plan to seek forgiveness in old age. However, death often strikes unexpectedly, shattering their plans and leaving them with unfulfilled desires.
Misuse of Allah’s Mercy
Many of these individuals take false comfort in Allah’s vast mercy while forgetting that He is also severe in punishment. They knowingly persist in sins, disregarding their prohibition, which makes their punishment even more severe.Influence of the Masses
Some people are misled by the widespread prevalence of sins and the actions of others. They assume that individuals of intelligence and wisdom cannot be wrong, so they join their ranks. However, frequent sinning hardens the heart, distancing one from Allah’s remembrance and obedience. In most cases, such individuals fail to repent and meet a dreadful end. Their sins dominate their lives, becoming ingrained habits that they cannot abandon.
Correct Understanding of the Hadith
The Hadith mentioned is authentic and valid, but it applies to individuals who commit sins out of ignorance or human weakness, not out of intentional rebellion or insistence. These individuals immediately repent and seek Allah’s forgiveness.Allah describes such people in the Quran:
“Indeed, repentance is accepted by Allah only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is they to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness.”
[Surah An-Nisa: 17]
And Allah says:
“And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allah? – and do not persist in what they have done while they know.”
[Surah Aal-e-Imran: 135]
A Warning to Persistent Sinners
Those who knowingly persist in their sins and delay repentance are heedless of the danger they face. Their arrogance in continuing sinful acts and neglecting repentance leads them to ruin.May Allah protect us from such disgrace and guide us toward sincere repentance.
And Allah knows best.
