The Concept of Repeated Sinning in Islamic Shariah

Undoubtedly, the repetition of disobedience and the habitual committing of sins indicate a lack of seriousness in adhering to the commands of Allah, a disregard for prohibited matters, a deficiency in the fear of Allah, and an absence of mindfulness of His constant observation and supervision. This weakens faith and diminishes the sensitivity of the conscience toward sin. The remedies for this issue include the following:

Listening to Sermons and Advice from Knowledgeable Scholars
  • One should frequently listen to sermons and advice, particularly from scholars who deliver sincere and heartfelt admonitions.
Frequent and Reflective Recitation of the Holy Qur'an
  • Engage in the abundant and contemplative recitation of the Qur'an, especially focusing on verses that remind one of the punishments and consequences in this world and the Hereafter. Reflect deeply on what is read or heard with full attentiveness.
Maintaining Awareness of Allah’s Observation and Supervision
  • At all times, keep in mind that Allah is watching and supervising. This creates a profound sense of reverence for Him in the heart and fosters respect for His commands and prohibitions.
Turning to Allah in Repentance After Sinning
  • When a sin is committed, hasten to turn back to Allah, express regret, seek forgiveness, and resolve to stay away from all actions that incur His displeasure. This includes undertaking measures that promote sincere repentance and distance from prohibited deeds.
These steps, along with similar practices, lead to repentance and help one to refrain from engaging in haram activities.
