The Black Stone and the Call to Monotheism by Umar (RA)

Hazrat Umar's Declaration to the Black Stone

Translation:

((Indeed, Umar bin Khattab (RA) said to the corner (Hajr Aswad): "By Allah, I know that you are just a stone, you can neither harm nor benefit. Had I not seen the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) kissing you, I would never have kissed you." Then he kissed it and said, "What do we have to do with Raml? We only performed it to show the polytheists, and Allah has destroyed them." Then he added, "This is something the Prophet (PBUH) did, so we do not want to leave it.")) (Sahih Bukhari: 1605, Sahih Muslim: 1270)

Raml in Tawaf:

Performing "Raml" (walking briskly with short steps and with the shoulders out) during the first three rounds of Tawaf (circumambulation) of Hajj and Umrah is a Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH).
Benefit:

The statement of Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) "This Raml is not Sunnah" (Sahih Muslim: 1264, Dawood: 1885) means that it is not an obligatory Sunnah without which Hajj cannot be performed.

Idtiba in Tawaf:

It is permissible to perform Idtiba (uncovering the right shoulder by taking the Ihram under the right arm and placing it on the left shoulder) during the first three rounds of Tawaf. The narration states: "What is the use of Raml today and uncovering the shoulders?" (Musnad Ahmad: 1/45, Sunan Abu Dawood: 1887, Sunan Ibn Majah: 2952, Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah: 2708, its chain is Hasan)

Virtue of the Black Stone:

The Prophet (PBUH) said: "The Black Stone is from Paradise, and it was whiter than snow, but the sins of the polytheists turned it black." (Musnad Ahmad: 1/307, its chain is Hasan)

Additionally, he said: "If it had not been touched by the impurities of ignorance, it would have healed every afflicted person who touched it, and there is nothing on earth from Paradise other than it." (Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi: 5/75, its chain is Sahih)

And he said: "Allah will raise the Black Stone on the Day of Resurrection, and it will have two eyes to see and a tongue to speak with, and it will testify for those who touched it in truth."

(Musnad Ahmad: 1/307, its chain is Hasan)

Kissing the Black Stone:

Saying "Allah Akbar" and kissing the Black Stone during Tawaf is Sunnah and Mustahabb. Umar (RA) kissed the Black Stone and embraced it, saying, "I saw the Prophet (PBUH) love you greatly."

(Sahih Muslim: 1271)

Benefit:

One narration states: "It is Allah's right hand on earth with which He shakes hands with His creation." (Musnad Ahmad: 2/211, authenticated by Ibn Khuzaymah: 2737, and Al-Hakim: 1/457) This chain is weak as Abdullah bin Al-Mumil is a weak narrator. The second chain (Tarikh Baghdad: 6/238, Al-Kamil by Ibn Adi: 1/342) is fabricated as Ishaq bin Bashir is a liar. Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) said: "The Black Stone is Allah's hand on earth." (Gharib al-Hadith by Ibn Qutaybah: 2/96, Tarikh Makkah by Al-Azraqi: 1/324, authenticated by Ibn Hajar: This is an authentic paused statement (Al-Matalib Al-Aliyah: 2/37)). This statement is weak in all chains.

Kissing is Only for the Black Stone:

A Stone Cannot Harm or Benefit:

Umar (RA) said: "O Commander of the Faithful! It can harm and benefit." (Mustadrak Al-Hakim: 1/457-458, Shu'ab al-Iman by Al-Bayhaqi: 3749) This narration is fabricated as Abu Harun Al-Abdi is a liar.

Kissing the Black Stone is Due to Following the Sunnah:

Umar (RA) said: "If the Black Stone were not part of the House, I would not perform Tawaf around it." (Musnad Umar bin Khattab by Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Salman Al-Najjad: 18, its chain is Hasan)

Calling the Black Stone 'Rukn' is Correct:

This is because it is installed at the corner of the Ka'bah.

Addressing Inanimate Objects to Educate the Audience is Permissible:

Swearing in General Conversation is Permissible:

Umar (RA) was Filled with the Spirit of Obeying the Prophet (PBUH):

Non-Action Sometimes Indicates Non-Legitimacy:

One Must Act on Religious Matters Whether Their Wisdom is Understood or Not:

Explaining the Wisdom of Religious Matters to New Muslims or Weak Believers is Beneficial:

One Must Avoid Even the Slightest Hint of Polytheism:

Kissing Something Not Legitimized by Shariah is Disliked:

Showing Strength and Power in Following the Sunnah to Establish Islam is Praiseworthy:

An Act Done by the Prophet (PBUH) for a Specific Reason Remains a Sunnah Even After the Reason is No Longer Present:

Showing Off in Actions is Condemned When Done to Impress People:

Islam was Dominant and Polytheism and Disbelief were Destroyed During the Prophet's (PBUH) Era:

This Hadith is a Strong Proof of Umar's (RA) Virtue and Merit:
