Imām al-Ḥakam ibn ʿUtaybah (رحمه الله) (d. 115 AH) said:

“There is no one from Allah’s creation whose statements can be accepted entirely and left entirely, except the Prophet ﷺ (May my father, mother, and soul be sacrificed for him).
(Jāmiʿ Bayān al-ʿIlm wa Faḍlihi 2/91, 2/112, 2/81; chain ḥasan li-dhātih)

Imām al-Aʾimmah al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Kabīr Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq ibn Khuzaymah al-Naysābūrī (رحمه الله) (d. 311 AH) said:

“No one’s statement can be considered when the authentic ḥadīth of the Prophet ﷺ has come.”
(Maʿrifah ʿUlūm al-Ḥadīth by al-Ḥākim al-Naysābūrī, p. 84, 286; chain authentic)

Imām al-Shāfiʿī (رحمه الله) was asked about a ḥadīth of the Prophet ﷺ he narrated:

“Do you act upon this ḥadīth?”
He replied (with amazement):
“Subḥān Allah! I narrate a ḥadīth from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and do not act upon it? If at any time I find a ḥadīth of the Prophet ﷺ and I do not act upon it, then bear witness that at that time my mind is gone!”
(Ādāb al-Shāfiʿī wa Manāqibuhu by Ibn Abī Ḥātim, p. 50; chain authentic)
This means that according to Imām al-Shāfiʿī, one who does not act upon an authentic (and unopposed) ḥadīth is akin to a madman.
