❖ Question:
In the month of Dhul-Hijjah, when exactly should the Takbirs—recited after the congregational obligatory prayers in mosques—be started? Should they begin from the 1st to the 13th, or only from the 9th to the 13th (given the oath of وَلَيَالٍ عَشْر in Surah al-Fajr)?❖ Answer:
Hafiz Ibn Hajar (رحمه الله) wrote that there is no authentic Hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ specifically establishing this practice of Takbir after obligatory prayers during Dhul-Hijjah.However, it is authentically established from the Salaf al-Salih (righteous predecessors) that they would recite Takbirs during different days and times, and with varied wordings.
