Presence of Shaytan in the House and Supplications for Protection

❖ Question:
Does Shaytan eat and sleep with me in my house?
❖ Answer:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
«بسم الله توكلت على الله ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله يقال له: كفيت، ووقيت، وهديت وتنحى عنه الشيطان»
"Whoever says: ‘In the Name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah,’ it will be said to him: ‘You are sufficed, protected, and guided,’ and Shaytan moves away from him."
[Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith no. 5095; Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith no. 3426]
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (RA) that he said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say:
«إذا دخل الرجل بيته فذكر الله تعالي عند دخوله و عند طعامه قال الشيطان لأصحابه: لا مبيت لكم ولا عشاء، وإذا دخل فلم يذكر الله تعالي عند دخوله، قال الشيطان: أدركتم المبيت، وإذا لم يذكر الله تعالي عند طعامه قال: أدركتم المبيت والعشاء»
"When a man enters his house and remembers Allah at the time of entering and at the time of eating, Shaytan says to his companions: ‘You have no lodging and no dinner here.’ But if he enters without mentioning Allah, Shaytan says: ‘You have found lodging.’ And if he does not mention Allah at the time of eating, Shaytan says: ‘You have found both lodging and dinner.’"
