Supplications and Remembrances for Protection from Evil Whispers Upon Entering the Mosque

Compiled by: Dr. Raza Abdullah Pasha (ḥafiẓahullāh)

When I enter the mosque, Satan puts evil whispers (wasāwis) in my mind. What should I do?

It is narrated from Sayyidunā Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Noble Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

“When one of you enters the mosque, he should send peace upon the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and say:

(O Allah! Open for me the doors of Your mercy).

And when he exits, he should send peace upon the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and say:

(O Allah! Protect me from the accursed devil).”
📘 [Sunan Ibn Mājah, Hadith No. 773]

It is also narrated from Sayyidunā Anas bin Mālik (رضي الله عنه), who said that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) stated:

“Whoever, upon leaving his home, says:

(In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power and no strength except through Allah),
it will be said to him at that moment: ‘You have been protected, sufficed, and guided.’
Then Satan distances himself from him, and another devil says to him:
‘How can you overcome a person who has been guided, protected, and sufficed?’”*
