During Salah and at other times, a person may experience whisperings (wasāwis) that disturb his peace and even make him concerned about his faith. What should be recited to protect oneself from such whispers?
To protect oneself from satanic whispers (wasāwis), it is Sunnah to regularly recite the Muʿawwidhāt—
➤ Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ
➤ Sūrah al-Falaq
➤ Sūrah al-Nās
—after every obligatory prayer and before sleeping at night.
➊ Narrated by ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir رضي الله عنه:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me to recite the Muʿawwidhāt after every prayer.”
(Sunan Abī Dāwūd)
➋ It was the habit of the Prophet ﷺ to recite the Muʿawwidhāt before sleeping at night.
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)
To stay protected from evil whispers and satanic suggestions, it is recommended to regularly recite Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq, and al-Nās,
especially:
✔ After each obligatory Salah
✔ Before sleeping at night
Allah knows best.
