What is the Sunnah method of giving Adhan in the ear of a newborn?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʾAmma baʿd!
◈ The Sunnah method is to call the Adhan in the ear of the newborn, as indicated by the following narration:
"بس یہی ہے کہ اس کے کان میں اذان کہہ دے"
(Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Chapter on Sacrifices, Section: Adhan in the Ear of a Newborn)
◈ Following the principle of yuḥabbu at-tayammun (starting with the right side), it is preferable to give the Adhan in the right ear of the newborn.
