A Sword Should Always Be Sheathed When Handed Over
✿ Hadith ①:
«عن أبي بكرة قال: أتى رسول الله على قوم يتعاطون سيفاً مسلولاً، فقال: لعن الله من فعل هذا، أو ليس قد نهيت عن هذا؟ ثم قال: إذا سل أحدكم سيفه فنظر إليه، فأراد أن يناوله أخاه، فليغمده ثم يناوله إياه.»
[Hasan: Narrated by Imam Ahmad 20429]
Narrated by Abu Bakrah (رضي الله عنه):
The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) came upon a group of people who were passing around an unsheathed sword. He said:
"May Allah curse the one who does this! Have I not forbidden this?"
Then he added: "When one of you unsheathes a sword to look at it and wishes to hand it to his brother, he should first sheathe it, then hand it over."

«عن جابر بن عبد الله أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مرّ بقوم في مجلس يسلّون سيفاً يتعاطونه بينهم غير مغمود، فقال: ألم أزجركم عن هذا؟ فإذا سلّ أحدكم السيف، فليغمده، ثم ليعطه أخاه.»
[Hasan: Narrated by Imam Ahmad 14981, Al-Bazzar – Kashf al-Astar 3335, Ibn Hibban 5943]
Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنه):
The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) passed by a group of people sitting in a gathering, exchanging an unsheathed sword. He said:
"Did I not forbid you from doing this? If one of you unsheathes a sword, he must sheathe it before giving it to his brother."

«عن بئة الجهني أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مرّ على قوم في المسجد أو في المجلس يسلّون سيفاً بينهم يتعاطونه غير مغمود، فقال: لعن الله من يفعل ذلك، أو لم أزجركم عن هذا؟ فإذا سللتم السيف فليغمده الرجل، ثم ليعطه كذلك.»

Narrated by Bannah al-Juhani (رضي الله عنه):
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) passed by a group of people in the mosque or a gathering, exchanging an unsheathed sword among themselves. He said:
"May Allah curse the one who does this! Did I not warn you about this? When you unsheathe a sword, it should be sheathed again before being handed to another."
