Sponsoring Orphans Through Various Charitable Organizations and Relief Agencies
Whoever sponsors an orphan through a trustworthy aid organization or charitable agency that provides basic needs such as housing, food, clothing, and upbringing and education, such a person, in shā’ Allāh, is counted among those who sponsor orphans. He will be entitled to the immense reward and the great virtue of entering Paradise.
Sahl bin Sa’d (رضي الله عنه) narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” and he ﷺ gestured with his index and middle fingers with a slight gap between them.
[صحيح البخاري، رقم الحديث 5304]
This great reward is not limited to those who take the orphan into their home. However, if the orphan is in greater need and a person brings him into his own home and personally sees to his upbringing and care, then undoubtedly such a person deserves a greater reward than one who only provides financially for the orphan’s care.
