Question:
I am unable to offer Fajr prayer in congregation due to laziness. Please prescribe a spiritual wazīfah (supplication/remedy) that will help me consistently perform Fajr prayer in congregation.
Answer:
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
The condition of the heart and human laziness are under the control of Allah Almighty. Therefore, one should supplicate to Allah to incline his heart towards obedience and worship.
For this purpose, make it a regular practice to recite the following masnūn duʿāʾ:
❀ «اَللّٰهُمَّ مُصَرِّفَ الْقُلُوبِ صَرِّفْ قُلُوبَنَا عَلٰى طَاعَتِكَ»
(Mishkāt, Kitāb al-Īmān, Bāb al-Īmān bi-l-Qadar, al-Faṣl al-Awwal)
Translation:
“O Allah, Turner of hearts, turn our hearts towards Your obedience.”
This duʿāʾ is extremely effective. Through it, the servant seeks Allah’s help to remove laziness and negligence, and to direct his heart towards obedience and worship.
Hādhā mā ʿindī, wallāhu aʿlam bi-ṣ-ṣawāb.
