Fifth Ḥadīth:
Narrated by Ziyād ibn Jubayr:
"I saw Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them) approach a man who had made his camel sit down and then slaughtered it. Ibn ʿUmar said: 'Make it stand, and bind it according to the Sunnah of Muḥammad ﷺ.'"
– Third person masculine singular, past active verb from the form IV (باب إفعال).

✦ Explanation of the Ḥadīth:
Slaughtering the camel while it is standing with its foreleg tied is the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ and the practice of the Companions, as mentioned in another narration which states that the Noble Prophet ﷺ and His Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to tie the left foreleg of the camel and then slaughter it while it was standing.[Sunan Abī Dāwūd: 1767]

Ziyād ibn Jubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) was a trustworthy Tābiʿī, and his father was also a respected Tābiʿī. They belonged to the Banū Thaqīf tribe.References:
