Sign of the Day of Judgment: Singing and playing music will become common practice

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hafiz Mubashir Hussain Lahori's book Signs of the Day of Judgment in the Light of Authentic Hadiths.

Sign of the Day of Judgment: Singing and Music Will Become Common

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) said: "In my Ummah, some evil people will emerge who will make adultery, silk clothing, alcohol, and music permissible, and some of them will go to the top of a mountain (to live in their bungalows). Their shepherds will bring and take the livestock morning and evening. If a poor person comes to them for his need, they will tell him to come tomorrow to delay him, but Allah Almighty will destroy them during the night (due to their rebellion), will cause a mountain to fall upon them, and those who survive among them will be transformed into monkeys and pigs until the Day of Judgment."

It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) said: "A group of my Ummah will spend the night in wine, kebabs, and amusement (musical shows), and by morning they will have turned into monkeys and pigs. Those who survive among them, Allah will send a wind that will destroy them as He destroyed the previous (disobedient) nations. This punishment will be because they made drinking wine, music, and keeping female singers (prostitutes) permissible."

Reference: Bukhari: Book of Drinks: Chapter on those who make wine permissible and call it by other names (5590)

In one narration, it is mentioned that they will have made permissible the use of Allah’s prohibitions (usury, wine, silk, etc.).

Benefits:
(1) The prevalence of music among Muslims is a sign of the Day of Judgment.
(2) The following signs of the Day of Judgment have already occurred.
(3) The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) expressed strong dislike and aversion to music and declared it forbidden.
(4) Allah Almighty says:
"And among the people are those who take idle talk as a diversion to mislead others from the way of Allah without knowledge and make it a laughingstock. Those will have a humiliating punishment."

Reference: Luqman: 6

In the mentioned verse, "idle talk" refers to singing, its instruments, musical devices, courtesans, dancers, TV, VCR, etc.

(5) Some people who spend the night in music and musical functions will be swallowed by the earth in the morning. Partial manifestations of this prophecy have appeared from time to time. Recently, an incident occurred which was published in all national newspapers that near Mansehra, a village completely sank due to a landslide, and hundreds of people were crushed to death under the mountain. This area, besides being a healthy recreational spot, was also adorned with dens of immorality, upon which Allah Almighty finally unleashed His punishment.
