✿ Should a Husband Be Granted Time to Pay Mahr if He Is Financially Struggling? ✿

📌 The Ruling:

If a husband is unable to pay the due mahr (dower) because of financial hardship, he should be granted a time extension to fulfill this obligation.

📖 Qur'anic Evidence:

❀ Allah the Exalted says:

﴿وَإِنْ كَانَ ذُو عُسْرَةٍ فَنَظِرَةٌ إِلَى مَيْسَرَةٍ﴾
“And if the debtor is in hardship, then (let there be) postponement until (a time of) ease.”

📖 Surah al-Baqarah: 280

◈ Summary:

Mahr is a binding obligation upon the husband.
② If the husband is financially constrained, the wife should grant him time until he becomes able.
③ This is based on clear instruction from the Qur'an and is a matter of compassion and patience in Islam.
