It is observed in some areas that a centralized Jumuʿah is organized, where people from different mosques leave their local mosques to gather at a designated location to offer Jumuʿah together. What is the Sharʿi ruling on this?
In earlier times, primary (local) mosques were separate, and Jumuʿah prayer was held only in designated large congregational mosques (Jāmiʿ Masājid). However, the situation has now changed—many local mosques are functioning as Jāmiʿ mosques, and this has become a common trend.
Preferring unity and collective worship is a commendable practice.
If people leave their local mosques to gather at one central Jāmiʿ mosque for Jumuʿah, this is considered a better and more virtuous approach, as it promotes congregational unity and strengthens the spirit of togetherness in worship.
