Sharʿī Ruling on Two Rakʿahs at Maqām Ibrāhīm After Ṭawāf

❀ Is It Necessary to Pray Two Rakʿahs at Maqām Ibrāhīm After Ṭawāf? ❀

❖ Question

Is it necessary to perform two rakʿahs of ṣalāh at Maqām Ibrāhīm after completing ṭawāf?

❖ Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!

Yes, performing two rakʿahs of prayer at Maqām Ibrāhīm after ṭawāf is necessary, because Allah ﷻ commands it in the Qur’an:

﴿وَاتَّخِذُوْا مِنْ مَّقَامِ اِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّی﴾
(Sūrat al-Baqarah)
"And take the standing place of Ibrāhīm as a place of prayer."

From this verse, it is evident that after completing ṭawāf, two rakʿahs should be performed at Maqām Ibrāhīm, and this is established from the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ as well.
