❀ Is It Permissible to Perform More Than One ʿUmrah in a Single Journey? ❀
Can two or more ʿUmrahs be performed in a single journey? If this is possible, then why did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Companions (رضي الله عنهم) not do so, even though they were foremost in doing good deeds?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
The evidence which proves the permissibility of performing multiple ṭawāfs in one journey also indicates the permissibility of performing more than one ʿUmrah in a single journey.
For further details and evidences, one may refer to Zād al-Maʿād, vol. 2, pp. 92–94, which contains beneficial discussion on this matter.
The question of why the Companions (رضي الله عنهم) did not perform more than one ʿUmrah in a single journey arises only if it is first established with certainty that:
✿ None of the Companions ever performed more than one ʿUmrah in a single journey.
If this can be definitively proven, then the question “why not?” may be raised. Without such proof, the assumption itself remains unverified.
◈ Sharīʿah permits performing more than one ʿUmrah in a single journey.
◈ The practice of repeated ṭawāf indicates the same allowance.
◈ As for the Companions, clear evidence is first required before claiming they never did so.
