Question

Is it permissible to marry a girl to the Qurʾān? What is the Sharʿī ruling regarding those who do this to preserve wealth? Does this act take them out of Islam or not?

Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā baʿd:

  • Marrying a girl to the Qurʾān is an utterly false, rejected, and anti-Islamic practice.
  • It is not only a blatant violation of Islamic Sharīʿah but also an act of mockery and ridicule of the Qurʾān and Islam.
  • If, after clear evidence is presented proving the invalidity of this act (iqāmat al-ḥujjah), a person still believes it to be permissible, then his Islam becomes questionable.

Hādhā mā ʿindī, wallāhu aʿlam biṣ-ṣawāb.
