❖ Belief in Divine Decree: A Pillar of Islamic Faith

Belief in Taqdīr (Divine Decree) is one of the essential pillars of faith in Islam. A person who is displeased with Allah’s decree is, in reality, objecting to Allah’s wisdom and knowledge, which is contrary to true īmān. The Qur’an and ḥadīth contain severe warnings for those who exhibit such discontent.

❖ Warnings in the Light of the Qur’an

➊ Displeasure with Allah’s Decisions Leads to Misguidance

📖 Sūrah al-Aḥzāb (33:36)

Translation:

“It is not for a believing man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, to have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has surely strayed into clear error.”

Point:
This verse clearly indicates that objection to Allah’s decision (i.e., Taqdīr) and displeasure with it is misguidance.

➋ Success Lies in Being Pleased with Allah’s Decree

📖 Sūrah at-Taghābun (64:11)

Translation:

“No calamity befalls except by Allah’s permission. And whoever believes in Allah – He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things.”

Point:
One who accepts and is content with Allah’s decree receives guidance and inner peace. In contrast, those who object bring themselves into misguidance and unrest.

❖ Warnings in the Light of Ḥadīth

➊ Objecting to Taqdīr Is a Sign of Weak Faith or Hypocrisy

The Prophet ﷺ said:

📖 Jāmiʿ at-Tirmidhī: 2144, Ibn Mājah: 77

Translation:
“A servant does not truly believe until he affirms that what has afflicted him was never going to miss him, and what has missed him was never going to afflict him.”

Point:
This ḥadīth shows that discontent with divine decree reflects weak faith, and may even lead to hypocrisy if persisted in.

➋ Displeasure with Allah's Decisions Invites His Wrath

The Prophet ﷺ said:

📖 Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 5645, Jāmiʿ at-Tirmidhī: 2396

Translation:
“When Allah loves a people, He tests them. Whoever is content, for him is Allah’s pleasure; and whoever is displeased, for him is Allah’s wrath.”

Point:
A person displeased with Allah’s decree incurs Allah’s anger, leading to loss in both this world and the Hereafter.

➌ Severe Punishment for Those Who Complain Against Taqdīr

The Prophet ﷺ said:

📖 Musnad Aḥmad: 8937

Translation:
“The person who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Judgement is the one who was displeased with Allah’s decree during his worldly life.”

Point:
This ḥadīth confirms that failing to accept divine decree and showing resentment leads to intense punishment in the Hereafter.

❖ Benefits of Being Content with Taqdīr

① Attaining Allah’s love
② Earning great reward through patience
③ Gaining peace of heart
Success in both worlds

✿ Summary:

❌ One who is displeased with Taqdīr:

◈ Objects to Allah’s divine wisdom
