❖ Question
Is it permissible to say "As-salāmu ʿalaykum" during the Adhān or when the Khaṭīb is delivering the Friday sermon?❖ Answer
✔ Yes, saying salām during either the Adhān or the Khutbah is permissible, and there is no Sharʿī prohibition against it.➤ During the Khutbah:
- Saying "As-salāmu ʿalaykum" does not disrupt the sermon.
- The person listening to the khutbah may respond with a gesture rather than verbally.
- This approach maintains respect for the khutbah while honoring Islamic etiquette.
➤ During the Adhān:
- Saying salām and responding to it during the Adhān is not problematic, as there is no explicit prohibition.
- The slow and spaced nature of the Adhān allows sufficient time to respond to both the Adhān and the salām.
