Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما narrated:
كان النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ علينا السورة فيها السجدة فيسجد ونسجد
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Sujud al-Qur’an, Hadith no. 1075)
"The Prophet ﷺ would recite to us a Surah that included a verse of prostration, and he would perform Sujud, and we would also perform Sujud."
سجد وجهي للذي خلقه وشق سمعه وبصره بحوله وقوته فتبارك الله أحسن الخالقين
(Al-Mustadrak of Al-Hakim, 1/220 – Sunan Abu Dawood, Chapters on Sujud, Hadith no. 1414)
"My face has prostrated to the One who created it and brought forth its hearing and sight by His power and strength. Blessed is Allah, the Best of creators."
② Another supplication for Sujud al-Tilawah:
اللهم أكتب لي بها عندك أجرا ، وضع عنى بها وزرا واجعلها لى عندك ذخرا وتقبلها مني كما تقبلت من عبدك داود
(Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Book of Jumu’ah, Chapter: What is said during Sujud of Qur’an, Hadith no. 579 – Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith no. 1053)
"O Allah, write for me with it a reward, and remove from me a burden because of it, and make it for me a treasure with You, and accept it from me just as You accepted it from Your servant Dawud."
(Sunan Abu Dawood, Book of Foods, Hadith no. 3760 – Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith no. 1847 – Sunan al-Nasa’i, Hadith no. 132)
✔ ② Sujud al-Tilawah is not obligatory, i.e., leaving it does not incur sin. However, performing it is preferred and virtuous.

✔ ③ When the Imam performs Sujud al-Tilawah, the followers should also perform it.

✿ Sujud al-Tilawah (Prostration of Recitation)
Whether within or outside Salah, when a verse of prostration (Ayah of Sajdah) from the Qur'an is recited or heard, it is prescribed to perform a prostration.Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما narrated:
كان النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ علينا السورة فيها السجدة فيسجد ونسجد

"The Prophet ﷺ would recite to us a Surah that included a verse of prostration, and he would perform Sujud, and we would also perform Sujud."
✿ Supplications for Sujud al-Tilawah
① When reciting a verse of prostration, the Prophet ﷺ would say during Sujud:سجد وجهي للذي خلقه وشق سمعه وبصره بحوله وقوته فتبارك الله أحسن الخالقين
(Al-Mustadrak of Al-Hakim, 1/220 – Sunan Abu Dawood, Chapters on Sujud, Hadith no. 1414)

✿ Important Rulings Regarding Sujud al-Tilawah
✔ ① Ablution is not necessary for Sujud al-Tilawah.(Sunan Abu Dawood, Book of Foods, Hadith no. 3760 – Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith no. 1847 – Sunan al-Nasa’i, Hadith no. 132)
