Ruling on Uttering Unintentional Phrases Due to Pain During Salah

🕋 Ruling on Unintentional Words Uttered During Salah
✍️ Derived from: Fatawa Ulama-e-Hadith, Kitab al-Salah, Volume 1

❖ Question:

A person suffering from joint pain sometimes utters the words “Ya Allah, have mercy” due to intense discomfort while standing up during Salah. It has become a habit, and sometimes this happens during prayer. Will such utterance affect the validity of the prayer?

❖ Shar‘i Ruling:

① If Said Inadvertently (سہواً):

If such words are uttered unintentionally due to pain or habit, the Salah remains valid. There is no harm or sin in this.

② If Said Intentionally (عمداً):

Even if such words are said intentionally, they do not fall under the category of "worldly speech (kalam al-nas)".
Therefore, the Salah is not invalidated by it.

❖ Summary:

✔ Whether the phrase “Ya Allah, have mercy” is uttered accidentally or deliberately due to pain,
✔ It does not invalidate the prayer.
✔ This is because it does not resemble common worldly conversation, and it stems from du‘a and pain, not distraction or neglect.
