Shar'i Ruling on Divorces Given During Pregnancy
A man gave his wife a divorce while she was pregnant, then issued a second divorce after one month, and a third divorce in the third month. During this period, reconciliation did not occur. In this case, will this be considered one divorce or three divorces?
There are two differing views among the Ahl al-Hadith scholars on this issue:
According to some Ahl al-Hadith scholars, this will be considered as only one divorce, because divorces given during pregnancy without the completion of a menstrual cycle or a specific stage of ‘iddah are not counted as separate divorces.
According to some other Ahl al-Hadith scholars, three divorces have occurred, because divorce was issued three times and no reconciliation took place in between.
