Ruling on Touching Things During Salah (Prayer)

❖ Narration of Mu'ayqib رضي الله عنه

Mu'ayqib رضي الله عنه narrated:
"They asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about wiping (during prayer)? He replied: 'Once only.'"

The intended meaning of wiping here refers to leveling or adjusting pebbles on the place of prostration. This is clarified through another narration.

❖ Key Points and Benefits

Touching Anything During Prayer is Not Permissible:
Even if there are pebbles on the ground where one performs sujood (prostration), it is not permissible to touch or adjust them during the prayer.

Peace and Calmness in Prayer is Essential:
A tranquil and undisturbed prayer is most rewarding; moving or fiddling with things reduces the spiritual focus.

Praying on Pebbled Surfaces is Allowed:
Salah is valid both in open grounds and in mosques, even if pebbles are present.

Level the Ground Before Starting Prayer:
If the prayer space needs adjusting (like removing or leveling pebbles), it should be done before starting Salah—not during.
