Is Tayammum Valid with Lime? Evidence from Hadith

Question:
Is tayammum valid with lime?
Answer:
Tayammum is only permissible with pure soil. Lime is not considered soil. The Qur’an has commanded tayammum with pure earth.
❀ Sayyiduna Hudhayfah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said:
جعلت تربتها لنا طهورا، إذا لم نجد الماء.
(Its soil has been made a means of purification for us when we do not find water.)
(Sahih Muslim: 522)
This proves that tayammum is only valid with pure soil, not with lime.
