Is it necessary for a person performing wudu to take fresh water for wiping the ears?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh. Ammā baʿd!
Best Practice:
After completing the wiping of the head, use the remaining moisture on your hands to wipe the ears.

Question:
Is it necessary for a person performing wudu to take fresh water for wiping the ears?
Answer:
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh. Ammā baʿd!
- Taking fresh water for wiping the ears during wudu is not obligatory.
- According to the correct opinion, it is not even recommended (mustahabb).
- This is because the Companions رضي الله عنهم who described the wudu of the Prophet ﷺ never mentioned that he took fresh water for his ears.
Best Practice:
After completing the wiping of the head, use the remaining moisture on your hands to wipe the ears.
