Ruling on Saying "Sadaqallahul Azim" After Reciting the Quran

📖 Source: This ruling is derived from the Fatwas of the Scholars of Haramain as compiled in the book "500 Questions and Answers for Women", translated by Hafiz Abdullah Saleem.

Question:

What is the ruling on saying "Sadaqallahul Azim" ("Allah, the Almighty, has spoken the truth") after completing the recitation of the Quran?

Answer:

Saying "Sadaqallahul Azim" after completing the recitation of the Quran is an innovation (Bid'ah).

🔹 Why is it Considered a Bid'ah?
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the Rightly Guided Caliphs, the Companions (رضي الله عنهم), and the early scholars (Imams of the Salaf), despite frequently reciting the Quran and acknowledging its greatness, did not make it a practice to say these words after finishing the recitation.

🔹 Hadith Evidence Against Innovations in Religion

The Prophet ï·º said:

"Whoever introduces something new into our matter (religion) that is not part of it, it will be rejected."
📖 (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 2550; Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 1718)

Another version in Sahih Muslim states:

"Whoever performs an act that is not in accordance with our command, it will be rejected."
📖 (Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 1718)

Therefore, regularly saying "Sadaqallahul Azim" after reciting the Quran and considering it necessary is an innovation that should be avoided.
