Ruling on Salah in the Case of Urine Droplets
Source: Ahkam wa Masail, Chapter: Issues of Purification, Vol. 1, p. 90
A question was asked regarding a man who was previously healthy but, in recent days, has been afflicted with a condition in which he frequently experiences urine leakage. He performs wudu with great care, ensuring complete cleanliness, but when he goes into sujood, he feels as if a few drops of urine have been discharged. Despite taking full precautions and cleanliness measures, this concern troubles him during prayer.
The questions are:
◈ Is his Salah valid in such a condition?
◈ Can such a person lead Salah as an Imam?
◈ What is the detailed solution in light of Shari’ah?
Alhamdulillah, wassalatu wassalamu ‘ala Rasulillah, amma ba’d!
The condition described can be divided into two scenarios:
If the urine droplets appear only sometimes and not continuously, then:
➊ When a drop is discharged, wudu is invalidated.
➋ It is necessary to perform a new wudu before Salah.
➌ Offering Salah without performing wudu again will not be valid.
If the droplets keep coming frequently and the gap between occurrences is so short that an entire wudu and Salah time cannot pass in complete purity, then such a person is considered in the state of “ma’dhur” (excused).
In this case:
➊ He should perform a fresh wudu at the start of each Salah time.
➋ With this wudu, he can offer both fard and nafl prayers.
➌ The invalidation of wudu will not apply until the next Salah time begins, even if droplets continue.
In such cases, Shari’ah has outlined the ruling for a woman experiencing istihadah (non-menstrual bleeding), as mentioned in the Ahadith:
❀ “The woman should perform wudu for every prayer and then offer Salah.”
By analogy, a man experiencing frequent urine leakage will also perform fresh wudu at each prayer time, and that will be regarded as his state of purity.
◈ Such a person can lead Salah.
◈ Since he performs wudu at the start of each prayer time, he is considered pure according to Shari’ah.
◈ Shari’ah has not prohibited such a person from Salah; rather, it has facilitated worship through wudu.
➊ If the condition is temporary, the discharge of a drop invalidates wudu, and a new wudu is required before Salah.
➋ If the condition is continuous, he should perform fresh wudu at the start of each Salah time and then offer Salah.
➌ Salah in this state is valid, and such a person may also lead Salah as an Imam.

Answer: Detailed Clarification in the Light of Qur’an and Hadith
Alhamdulillah, wassalatu wassalamu ‘ala Rasulillah, amma ba’d!
The condition described can be divided into two scenarios:

➋ It is necessary to perform a new wudu before Salah.
➌ Offering Salah without performing wudu again will not be valid.
② If the condition is continuous and persistent:
