If Pebbles Do Not Fall into the Basin During Ramy — Must the Entire Stoning Be Repeated?
Source: Fatāwā Arkān al-Islām
A pilgrim on the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah threw pebbles at Jamrat al-ʿAqabah from the eastern side, but the stones did not fall into the basin. Is he required to repeat the entire stoning?
Alḥamdulillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!
✿ In such a case, the pilgrim is not required to repeat the entire Ramy.
✿ Only the portion in which the error occurred must be repeated.
✿ Therefore, he should only repeat the stoning of Jamrat al-ʿAqabah, ensuring it is done correctly.
✿ Stoning from the eastern side where the pebble does not fall into the basin is invalid, because the basin is the actual target for Ramy.
✿ However, if he had stoned from the eastern side from above the bridge, the stoning would be valid, since in that case the pebble would fall directly into the basin.
