❖ Question
After burial, before making duʿā, should the first rukūʿ of Sūrah al-Baqarah (Alif Lām Mīm Dhālika al-Kitāb…) and the last rukūʿ (Āmana al-Rasūlu…) be recited at the grave?
❖ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd:
There is no authentic or clear evidence that after burial, one should recite the first rukūʿ of Sūrah al-Baqarah (Alif Lām Mīm…) and its last rukūʿ (Āmana al-Rasūlu…) at the grave.
Therefore, this practice is not established from the Prophet ﷺ or the Companions.
❖ Summary
There is no sharʿī evidence for reciting the first and last rukūʿs of Sūrah al-Baqarah at the grave after burial. Hence, performing this act as a specific ritual is not correct.
Hādhā mā ʿindī, wallāhu aʿlam bis-ṣawāb.
