During any stay in one’s own home, regardless of whether it is long or short, the person is a resident and must perform full prayers.

❖ Question
If a person works in Lahore but returns to his hometown for one or two days, can he perform qasr (shortened) prayers during this brief stay at his home?
✿ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
- Even if the stay at home is short (one or two days), the person is considered a resident (muqīm) in his own house.
- Qasr is not permissible for a resident.
- Qasr is exclusively for travellers (musāfir).
Conclusion
During any stay in one’s own home, regardless of whether it is long or short, the person is a resident and must perform full prayers.
