❖ Question
Four individuals were sitting near a mosque playing cards. A pious and God-fearing person forbade them, advising that they should not play there. They replied, “This is not the mosque, mind your own business.” The caretaker (mutawalli) of the mosque also supported the players, even though the location is directly adjacent to the mosque. It is also evident that the caretaker is an inheritor of the original endower of the mosque property. Are both the players and the caretaker guilty in this matter?❖ Answer
Playing cards, gambling, and similar activities are forbidden in every place, whether near the mosque or far from it.Moreover, supporting such acts is itself a sin.
