Ruling on Performing Voluntary (Nafl) Prayers After Witr Along with Tahajjud

📘 Source: Fatāwā Muḥammadiyyah, Vol. 1, p. 534

❖ Question:

If a person wishes to perform the Witr prayer along with the Tahajjud prayer, then what should he do about the voluntary (nafl) prayers that are usually offered after Witr — should he perform them at the time of ʿIshā or omit them?

❖ Answer:

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd:

◈ In this matter, there is ease and flexibility; one may act according to what is most convenient for him.
◈ If one omits those nafl prayers, he will be deprived of their reward, but there will be no sin or accountability upon him.

ھٰذا ما عندي، والله أعلم بالصواب
This is what I hold to be correct, and Allah knows best what is right.
