❖ Question:
Is it permissible to perform Salah in front of a lit stove?
❖ Clarification:
After Jumu‘ah prayer today, a fellow worshipper remarked that this act resembles the practice of the Magians (Zoroastrians). Guidance is needed regarding this issue.
❖ Answer by Shaykh Abdul Wakeel Nasir حفظه الله:
◈ Preferred to Avoid (تركِ أولى):
This action falls under "Tark-e-Oula" — meaning it is better to avoid praying in front of a lit stove.
◈ Validity of the Prayer:
If a person offers Salah in front of a stove, his prayer is valid, and there is no need to repeat the Salah.
◈ Opinions of the Scholars:
Senior scholars have declared this act to be disliked (Makruh) and have advised avoiding it, in order to:✔ Prevent doubts and confusion.
✔ Avoid resemblance to the practices of the Magians (مجوس).
