Ruling on Missing Previous Ramadan’s Qadā’ Until the Next Ramadan

Ruling on Missing Previous Ramadan’s Qadā’ Until the Next Ramadan Arrives

Source: Fatāwā Amunpuri by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Amunpuri

❖ Question:

If a woman did not make up the missed fasts of the previous Ramadan and the next Ramadan has already begun, what should she do?

❖ Answer:

It is obligatory to make up (qadā’) the missed fasts of Ramadan before the next Ramadan begins. Exceeding this limit without a valid excuse is not permissible.

Therefore, if someone failed to make up the missed fasts until the next Ramadan arrived, she must:
Repent (tawbah) for the delay, and
② After the current Ramadan, make up the missed fasts of both Ramadans.

✅ Conclusion:
Delaying the qadā’ of Ramadan fasts until the next Ramadan without excuse is sinful. Repentance is required, and the qadā’ of all missed fasts must still be observed afterward.
