What is the ruling on kissing one’s own hand after shaking hands (musafahah)?

الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام علىٰ رسول الله، أما بعد!
Kissing one’s own hand after shaking hands has no basis in Shari‘ah.
◈ Scholarly Opinion
- ʿAllamah Badr al-Din al-ʿAyni al-Hanafi (855 AH) رحمه الله said:
"What the ignorant people do — kissing their own hand after meeting others (through handshake) — is makruh (disliked), and there is no concession for it."
(Minhat al-Suluk p. 415)
◈ Conclusion
- Kissing one’s own hand after handshake is baseless and disliked.
- It has no sanction in Islam, and scholars considered it a practice of the ignorant.
