❀ Shar‘i Ruling on Asking the Imam for Duʿāʾ After Salah ❀
Source: Fatāwā ʿUlamāʾ-e-Ḥadīth, Kitāb al-Ṣalāh, Volume 1
In some mosques, congregants make it a regular practice to request the Imam to make duʿāʾ after every prayer. Is it permissible to make duʿāʾ in such a manner at that time?
It is not correct to make duʿāʾ by the Imam after every obligatory prayer as a fixed routine.
However, if occasionally and incidentally a congregant requests the Imam to make duʿāʾ, then there is no harm in the Imam raising his hands and making duʿāʾ.
Allah knows best.

✿ Question:
In some mosques, congregants make it a regular practice to request the Imam to make duʿāʾ after every prayer. Is it permissible to make duʿāʾ in such a manner at that time?
✿ Answer:
It is not correct to make duʿāʾ by the Imam after every obligatory prayer as a fixed routine.
However, if occasionally and incidentally a congregant requests the Imam to make duʿāʾ, then there is no harm in the Imam raising his hands and making duʿāʾ.
✿ Clarification:
- There is no specific evidence for appointing a fixed time of duʿāʾ immediately after the obligatory prayers, nor is it part of the established Sunnah.
- The Imam may make duʿāʾ at other times if requested, without turning it into a regular habit.
✔ Summary:
Making post-Salah duʿāʾ by the Imam a daily habit is against the Sunnah.
Occasional duʿāʾ upon request is permissible.
Allah knows best.
