❖ Question:
Is it permissible to create an imaginary illustration? For example, an "imaginary depiction of the Ababeel attacking the army of Abraha." What is the Islamic ruling regarding such imaginary images?
❖ Answer by Shaykh Abdul Wakeel Nasir ḥafiẓahullāh:
According to the scholars, the general rule regarding the creation of imaginary images is that if the image is such that the identity of a living being becomes clearly recognizable—for instance, it becomes evident that the image is of a crow, a pigeon, a man, or a woman—then creating such images is not permitted.
One must avoid such illustrations, as they go against the principles of Islamic law.
