Question

What is the ruling on shaking hands immediately after Salah?
What is your opinion regarding shaking hands and saying “تَقَبَّلَ اللّٰہُ” right after Salah?

❖ Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!

Shaking hands immediately after Salah and saying “تَقَبَّلَ اللّٰہُ” is not an established practice in Shari‘ah. In this regard:

✿ There is no narration or Sunnah reported from the Noble Prophet ﷺ for this act.
✿ It is also not proven from the Companions رضي الله عنهم that they regularly shook hands with each other after Salah and said “تَقَبَّلَ اللّٰہُ.”

Hence, shaking hands right after Salah or saying “تَقَبَّلَ اللّٰہُ” is an act close to innovation (bid‘ah), as it is neither the way of the Prophet ﷺ nor the practice of the Companions.
