Taken from: "Ahkam wa Masail in the Light of the Qur’an and Hadith", Volume 02

❀ Question:

If a person has the Qur’an or a book containing adhkār (supplications) and awrād (invocations) in his pocket, can he enter the toilet in this state?

❀ Answer:

No, he cannot enter the toilet in this state.

This ruling is based on the practice of the Prophet ﷺ concerning items with sacred texts:

◈ Evidence from the Sunnah:

Anas ibn Mālik (رضي الله عنه) reported:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a ring made of silver, and the inscription “Muḥammad Rasūl Allāh” was engraved upon it — "Muḥammad" in one line, "Rasūl" in another, and "Allāh" in a third line.
When entering the toilet, the Prophet ﷺ used to remove the ring.
