Ruling on Depositing Trusts Between Muslims and Non-Muslims

✿ Written by: Saudi Fatwa Committee (Fatāwā)

❖ Mutual Trust and Deposits Between a Muslim and a Non-Muslim

It is permissible for a Muslim and a non-Muslim to entrust one another with money, goods, or similar items, including placing something as a security or mortgage. Such dealings are valid in Islamic law.

However, it is necessary to avoid compromising on religious principles, concealing the truth, or attending gatherings where something is heard or seen that is prohibited or disliked in Sharīʿah.
