Ruling on Demolishing a Mosque Built by One's Father

Author: Dr. Muhammad Zia-ur-Rahman Azmi (may Allah have mercy upon him)

It is not permissible for a son to demolish the mosque built by his father and convert it into a residence for himself. This is especially true if the mosque was left for people to perform prayers and they continue to pray there, as it is considered a waqf (endowment). Waqf properties are not subject to inheritance division.
