Question:
What is the ruling on blowing (or making such sounds) during prayer?
Answer:
Without necessity, it is not permissible to make sounds or blow during prayer. Tranquility and calmness are obligatory in prayer.
❀ Ḥāfiẓ Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr رحمه الله (d. 463H) said:
أجمع العلماء على كراهية النفخ فى الصلاة.
“The scholars are unanimous that blowing during prayer is disliked (makrūh).”
(Al-Tamhīd: 14/157)
However, blowing in prayer does not invalidate the prayer. Similarly, if one yawns during prayer and a sound escapes, it is certainly disliked but does not nullify the prayer.

Blowing or making unnecessary sounds in prayer is disliked but does not invalidate the prayer. Calmness and tranquility must be maintained throughout.
