❖ Question

On the occasion of ʿĪd, is it permissible to appoint a different person to lead the prayer when the main (regular) imam is present, but without his permission?

❖ Answer

No, it is not permissible to appoint another individual to lead the ʿĪd prayer in the presence of the regular imam without his consent.

⚠ Doing so is regarded as an act of disrespect and a cause of unnecessary discord within the community.

🛑 Moreover, such a prayer is not considered valid according to Sharʿī rulings.

✔ The consent of the main imam is essential in such matters.
