Rules of Fasting in Ramadan for Drivers and Those Traveling Continuously
Question:.
Are the drivers of cars and trucks, who are engaged in driving continuously outside the cities during the days of Ramadan, considered travelers?
Fatwa:.
Yes, they are in a state of travel, and it is permissible for them to perform shortened and combined prayers and not to fast. If someone says that this is their constant work, then when should they fast? We would say that these people can fast during the winter days when the days are short and cool. Those drivers who drive within the cities are not considered travelers, therefore it is obligatory for them to fast.
